Cristiano Ronaldo Plans Wedding with Georgina Rodríguez After World Cup
Portugal's captain has announced his engagement to long-term partner Georgina Rodríguez and plans to marry on his home island of Madeira — but only after the 2026 World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez are taking their love story to the next level. The Al-Nassr star proposed to his partner of nine years in August 2025, and in a recent interview with Piers Morgan, he revealed the wedding will take place after the 2026 World Cup.
The Proposal
Ronaldo described the proposal as entirely unplanned but unforgettable:
"It was like 1 AM. My daughters were in bed sleeping. One of my friends gave me the ring to offer Gio, and as I was giving her the ring, my two kids come in and say, 'Daddy, you're going to give the ring to mum and you're going to ask her to get married.' I said, 'Wow, this is the right moment to say yes.'"
Georgina shared the news on Instagram with the caption: "Yes I do. In this and in all my lives."
Wedding Plans
The ceremony will take place in Ronaldo's hometown on the island of Madeira, just 1.5 miles from the hospital where he was born. Despite the scale of their celebrity, Ronaldo revealed that Georgina prefers something intimate:
"She doesn't like big parties. I will respect her decisions."
World Cup First
The timing is deliberate. Ronaldo, who has confirmed the 2026 World Cup will be his last, wants to enter the tournament with total focus before walking down the aisle.
"I'm planning to get married after the 2026 World Cup with the trophy in hand," he told Morgan.
If Portugal were to win, it would be the first World Cup title in the nation's history — a fitting capstone before Ronaldo begins the next chapter of his life.
